Owner’s notes:
My father (Ronald Turtle) bought this fixed wheel bike new around 1950, when discharged from National Service.
It was well used in the early days. Ronald Turtle lived in Melksham and belonged to Chippenham Wheelers. He often joined in the 25 mile time trials in the evenings. However, mostly the bike was used for touring (with his wife Pamela) including holidays in Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Devon and Cornwall. There was also the daily commute from Melksham to Bath because it was long before they had a car.
The frame was re-sprayed in the early 1970s when the front forks were replaced. It has been stored in his garage for the last 40 years. Only the frame remains.
