(Gil Carter)
I recovered a cycle from the back of my garage where it had been stored since the early ’70s and found it to be a Carpenter. The frame number is 5030 (which I guess makes it about November 1956) and I believe it is original as I inherited it from an uncle, Charles Carter, its first owner, who I know was an enthusiastic amateur racer before the war and toured Europe with Sussex cycling colleagues until his death in the late ’60s.
It has a 5 speed Huret Derailleur and a leather Brooks saddle
